Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy covers the Library of Code website. It explains what the site collects, why, and how you can opt out.
If you volunteer with us or apply to, our Volunteer Privacy Notice explains how we handle that data.
What We Use
The site uses the Google tag for Google Ads conversion measurement. It tells us whether people who reach us through a Google ad go on to apply for a volunteer role. We use this only to judge whether our ads work.
The Google tag can set cookies in your browser. It loads only if you agree to it.
What Is Collected
- Ad click identifiers: a code Google adds to the link when you click one of our ads, so a later action can be matched to that click.
- Page and click events: which pages you view on this site, and when you click “Apply Now” on a volunteer role.
Google also receives the technical details any website receives, such as your IP address and browser type.
We don’t collect your name or email address through the Google tag, and we don’t sell data.
Who Processes It
Google processes this data under its own Google Privacy Policy.
The Google tag also lets Google show our ads to people who have visited this site before (called remarketing).
Every page shows our Candid transparency seal, which loads from Candid’s servers, so Candid receives your IP address and browser type.
Donations (Helcim and PayPal) and our code signing request form (Microsoft Forms) are run by those companies under their own privacy policies. Volunteer applications go to our own system at hr.libraryofcode.org, which the Volunteer Privacy Notice covers.
How to Opt Out
The Google tag loads only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. We remember your choice in your browser.
You can also:
- Turn off personalized ads in Google’s My Ad Center.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings.
